Helping Pest Control Businesses

David Haggett | Pest Control Industry Specialist

David Haggett works at the intersection of pest biology, pest control operations, and industry trends. His work combines a long-standing academic interest in entomology and herpetology with practical experience supporting pest control businesses.

Over the past 15+ years, David has written extensively for pest control companies across the United States. His work includes hundreds of articles as well as ghostwritten training materials and books covering topics such as termite control, technician development, and operational best practices. This has given him a detailed understanding of how pest control companies function day-to-day, from service delivery to staff training.

His technical background is rooted in the study of insect and reptile species across Europe, Asia, and Africa, with a focus on life cycles, behavior, and breeding systems—knowledge that directly underpins effective pest management.

He is also the author of three books on reptile care and insect breeding, including The Beginner’s Guide to Exotic Chameleon Care, Exotic Chameleons in South Africa: Their Care and Breeding, and Breeding Insects as Feeder Food. This work reflects a detailed understanding of insect life cycles and species commonly encountered in pest control environments.

Hands on Experience

In addition to his research and writing, David has hands-on field experience managing pest challenges in complex environments. While owning and operating  250-acre game ranch in South Africa, he was responsible for controlling a wide range of pest issues affecting both wildlife and residential structures, including insects, scorpions, snakes, and larger predators. This experience provided direct exposure to pest behavior, control methods, and environmental factors in real-world conditions.

David’s work focuses on providing clear, experience-based insights into the pest control industry, including how companies operate, the challenges they face, and the evolving demands placed on technicians and service providers.
